The districts of El Cabanyal and Canyamelar are home to the city's greatest fishing legacy. El Cabanyal-Canyamelar became an independent municipality in the 19th century under the name of Pueblo Nuevo del Mar. Even today the neighborhood represents its old identity by being close to the sea and through fishing huts and cabins, tiled façades, coloured buildings and modernist structures.
When we were fishermen is a love letter to Cabanyal's beautiful history.
